Hello to the most incredible community!
If you’ve ever been told “your labs look fine” — but you don’t feel fine — this one is for you.
This week’s questions all point to the same frustration: doing everything right, but still not getting answers.
Whether it’s bloating, weight gain, fatigue, or long-term health concerns… there are reasons behind it. And more importantly, there are ways to actually measure and improve what’s going on.
Here’s what we’re covering in this week’s questions:

Q: Hi Nurse Doza! Our family loves your videos and your podcast! You talked about lab work in one of your videos and I always struggle to get my doctor to order any labs for me. And when the results come back, they always say "everything looks fine”. But I don't feel fine and I have been struggling for years with bloating, weight gain and thinning hair. If I can get my doctor to order labs for me, what should I get them to order? Thank you for all your help!
A: Nurse Doza: I get so frustrated every time I hear this. It’s so ridiculous that it’s so hard to get doctors to order labs and it’s even more ridiculous that it’s rarely the right labs that should be ordered. Or even worse, the doctor just tells you that “everything looks fine”.
Labs are so important when it comes to finding the root cause of any health issue. I think yearly labs are a great idea and you can even make personalized supplement and diet recommendations based on your labs.
For bloating, weight gain, and hair issues, I would order the following labs:
Estradiol (estrogen)
Thyroid peroxidase - TPO: thyroid antibody test. Thyroid and hair issues go hand in hand.
Insulin - High insulin could mean poor weight loss. After all, Ozempic and GLP-1 medications are not actually weight loss drugs. They are diabetic medications.
hsCRP (High sensitivity C reactive protein) - General inflammation. It's hard to poop and lose weight when you are inflamed. Hair loss comes from inflammation too.
Vitamin D - Low vitamin D can lead to an autoimmune disorder
Ferritin - Stored iron.
GGT - THE fatty liver marker. It rarely gets ordered.
Good luck getting these ordered. Once you get the results, book a consult with me to go over them. I’ll go over everything in detail and explain it in a way so that you will understand your labs and what you will need to address going forward.
Extra credit: This is a link to function health labs. You can get the same labs I would order, plus a lot more and you can get your labs drawn in the city or town you live in/near by. Be sure to book that consult with me after to go over them.
Cellular Support
If inflammation is the root issue — especially in the brain, gut, or immune system — you have to support your cells directly.
Here are two of the most effective tools we use in the clinic:
NAD+ (Cellular Energy & Repair)
Supports mitochondrial function, energy, focus, and recovery
Use code DOZA40
Glutathione (Master Antioxidant)
Helps reduce oxidative stress and inflammation across the body
Use code DOZA40
These are foundational for anyone dealing with chronic inflammation, fatigue, or autoimmune issues.

Q: Hey Nurse Doza! I hear you talk about the liver all the time. My doctor told me I have a fatty liver but he didn't tell me what to do about it. I know I need to get back to the gym, but will I still have a fatty liver if I exercise and continue to eat bread? Even if it's sourdough bread?
A: Nurse Doza: A fatty liver is an inflamed liver that needs to be “cleaned out”. The liver needs a recipe in order to do this and unfortunately, exercise and even homemade sourdough bread won’t reverse fatty liver.
I have seen people with a fatty liver reverse their fatty liver with:
Fasting - It can reverse fatty liver and visceral fat. This is our FASTING podcast
The Mediterranean diet
Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts)
Green tea & black coffee
Our LIVER BOOST supplement
The liver is the only organ that, when healthy, can completely regenerate itself when it’s cut in half. I have also seen dramatic improvements in fatty livers, and even cirrhotic livers when they started this liver detox plan. I have seen labs, imaging and even energy all improve in people with fatty livers in as little as 2-6 months. It could take a little longer but you will notice the improvements along the way. Keep going, keep maintaining the liver detox plan and imagine how good you are going to feel in just a few weeks.

What you drink in the morning can either help your gut… or work against it.
If you’ve been trying to fix your gut, your energy, or your morning routine… what you drink first thing matters more than most people realize.
I’ve never tasted anything like this.
Pique’s Nandaka is what I recommend when someone wants calm energy, better focus, and digestive support without the crash or anxiety that comes from coffee. It’s smooth, easy to drink, and you can feel the difference right away.
Pique calls it the Rolls-Royce of coffee alternatives — and once you try it, you’ll understand why. This isn’t just about energy. It’s about supporting your nervous system, your metabolism, and your long-term health.
Especially as routines start to pick up again, having something that gives you steady, grounded focus instead of spikes and crashes makes a huge difference.

Q: Hi Nurse Doza. I am trying to get my health in order. I’ve seen my parents get older and be on medications their whole life. I don’t want to end up like that. What should I focus on for the long term? Appreciate what you do!
A: Nurse Doza: Thank you for being your own health advocate and not waiting around till it’s too late.
Here are what the stats tell us:
1 in 4 adults have a fatty liver
1 in 3 adults are pre diabetic
1 in 3 adults have heart disease
Every 65 seconds someone is diagnosed with dementia
What are the causes of these major health issues?
Lifestyle.
Which includes:
Food
Supplements
Movement
Sleep
Hobbies
Community
Which of these do you need to emphasize more? Or change? Or cut out?
Health is not just found in a pill or an injection. Nor is it only found in a gym or by following a specific diet.
It’s about keeping yourself accountable. Everyday. When no one is looking. When life gets too busy. When you aren’t in the mood.
It’s an investment. It’s the most important investment you will ever make.
Here’s 5 things you can do daily to be healthy:
Morning sunlight - 10-20 minutes can give you up to 10,000 units of vitamin D. If you don’t have morning sunlight, take 5000 units of vitamin D3 daily and/or get a red light panel. I use this red light panel (code nursedoza) every single morning at home when our family is getting ready for the day.
Take supplements.
Foundational supplements:
Vitamin D3 & vitamin K2 - Vitamin D is one of the most common nutritional deficiencies. Vitamin D is your immune system.
Omega 3 DHA (Fish oil) - Fatty liver, dementia, colon cancer, diabetes all have Omega 3 DHA deficiency.
B vitamins in the form of a multivitamin with electrolytes, amino acids and minerals. (We have one with caffeine and one without. Both can be mixed with water for a delicious mocktail or pre workout! The caffeine one is my fav!)
Resveratrol - A potent, plant extract that supports the mitochondria, our body’s major source of energy production.
NAD+ (code doza40) - NAD+ is a compound naturally found in the body that helps our cells make more ATP (energy!). Over time, NAD+ levels decrease in the body.
Choline - An amino acid found in the liver and brain that helps with cognition and focus. Choline deficiency is found in fatty liver, dementia and long term medication use.
Movement - The brain and muscles are organs that require exercise in order to function properly. 10-30 minutes daily.
Fasting - Caloric restrictive diets can extend lifespan, repair DNA, remove dead/toxic cells (autophagy), lower visceral fat, and make new mitochondria. Here is our Fasting podcast that explains how to fast correctly.
Maintain a resting heart rate between 40-60 - Using a daily stress management plan.
